Because somebody has to say this stuff.

Where is the Congressional Republican Outrage?

Although it seems like years, it was just months ago that Donald Trump was our President.  One of the things that sticks out in my memory of his time in office was the response of Congressional Democrats to something he said or any policy his administration put in place.  There was never a shortage of members of Congress who would seek out a media camera and microphone to not just disagree with Trump but also to denigrate him and his supporters, describing him and us as racist, homophobe, misogynist, transphobe, gun nut, climate denier and criminal.  They even went so far as to impeach him and conduct a Senate trial over the words “you have to fight.”

On the first day Joe Biden appeared in the White House he started his administration with several outrageous executive orders and followed up with many more within a few days.  Where was the loud, frequent, and strongly worded outrage from Congressional Republicans?  I am not talking about a member commenting to a reporter who caught up with him/her while walking through the basement walkways of Congress.  I am talking about taking a page from the Democrats’ playbook.  Call a press conference and show up with at least a half dozen like-minded members standing behind you while you rant loudly and vigorously about the latest nonsense coming out of the White House.  No name calling is necessary, just accurate take down of the statement or policy.  Individually, get yourself on the Sunday shows and do the same.  Write an op-ed.  Be relentless in your condemnation of idiotic policies or regulations.  The expression, “fight fire with fire” comes to mind.

Recently, the new Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin explained that an existential threat to our military forces is climate change.  I guess the secretary missed the session on orientation day explaining the main objective of the U.S. military to fight wars and defeat the enemy.  When not engaged in war, they should be training and preparing for one.  To achieve that objective he said, “We in the Department of Defense are committed to doing our part, from increasing the energy efficiency of our platforms and installations, to deploying clean distributed generation and energy storage, to electrifying our own vehicle fleets”.  I look for the announcement of a newly designed, totally electric Abrams tank.  So, the major unknown regarding this issue is the Congressional response.  Should we expect a strongly worded letter to the Secretary from the Republicans on the Armed Services Committee?

Why aren’t Republicans out front in condemning the section of the Biden relief package passed by the House that will discriminate against white farmers?  Why is the loudest voice over this injustice the Texas Agriculture Commissioner (suing as a private citizen rancher) and not Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell?

On Thursday, Biden announced executive orders addressing gun violence as he said, “Gun violence in this country is an epidemic.  Let me say it again: Gun violence in this country is an epidemic, and it’s an international embarrassment.”  He also claimed that “no amendment to the Constitution is absolute,” using the worn out ‘you can’t yell fire in a crowded movie theater’ as an example.  Ignoring the fact that the biggest international embarrassment is Joe Biden expounding on anything, where are the Republicans lining up at the microphone to renounce attacks on the Second Amendment through Executive Orders?  Can any of them publicly stress the importance of the last four words of the Amendment, “shall not be infringed”?

During the mostly peaceful activity at the Capitol on January 6th, the one killing that took place was by a Capitol Police lieutenant, who instead of issuing any verbal warning or simply pushing her back, shot and killed Ashli Babbitt, a 35-year-old unarmed white Air Force veteran, who was about to crawl through a broken door.  In most legal circles this would be called trespassing and is not punishable by immediate death.  And video showed proof this shooting was an intentional act as the officer had her in his sight with gun pointed for several seconds.  Let us reverse the scenario a bit and make Babbitt a black female and the police officer white.  Does anyone doubt Congressional Democrats would screaming from the rooftops about a white cop killing an unarmed black peaceful protestor?  Yet, we do not even know the name of the officer who has now been cleared of any wrongdoing.  Again, where is the outrage from the Republicans in Congress?  Who among them is demanding to know his identity?

Now there is talk of so-called vaccine passports being issued by the federal government.  Recently, Dr. Amanda Cohn, the executive secretary of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, was asked if COVID-19 vaccination can be required, she responded that under an EUA (Emergency Use Authorization), “vaccines are not allowed to be mandatory. So, early in this vaccination phase, individuals will have to be consented and they won’t be able to be mandatory.” Cohn later affirmed that this prohibition on requiring the vaccines applies to organizations, including hospitals.  Has any Republican member of Congress gotten out in front of the “required vaccine” discussion by tweeting this information, called a press conference or written an op-ed making this a well-known fact?  Yeah, I didn’t think so.

During the campaign, Joe Biden said in a speech, “We’re in a battle for the soul of our nation.”  He was right then, even if his meaning of those words is different than what any Constitution-loving, small government proponent today understands them to mean.  It is too bad most members of the Republican caucus do not realize they are losing that battle and are likely to lose the war if they do not fight this administration’s idiotic and illegal actions with all they have.  I don’t know what to call these folks anymore but “voice of the people” just doesn’t fit.

  1. Republicans fight the democrats? Are you kidding me? They are all in it together. Love that lucre and the jobs when they retire.

  2. Republicans are all castrated by their wives. The rest are demoKKKrats, aka RINOs.

  3. Repulicans. Why are they collecting a pay check for doing nothing? What have they accomplished except getting Trump out of office? YES, THAT IS THE REPULICANS FAULT!

  4. I liked Senator Kennedy’s turn of phrase,” America started by geniuses, run by idiots”!

  5. The reason they aren’t fighting back, is because they colluded with the Democrats on the steal. If they ever really fight, all the Democrats have to do is expose exactly how the the Republicans colluded with them. Then all of Republican leadership is toast. We know they did because of Mueller. If they weren’t behind Mueller, it would have been treated as a the joke it was. It was McCain that helped push the dossier. It was Burr that allowed the DOJ & FBI to stick it to Trump for 4 years. It was the Republicans that held impeachment over Trump for 4 years. It was the Republicans that allowed the Democrats to change all the voting rules unconstitutionally, then wouldn’t help Trump after the election. The fact is, Republican leadership sold out the country to the globalists and Trump was in the way.

  6. Steve,
Yes I have but she is one of only a few members that will speak loudly, along with Hawley, Cotton, Nunez John Kennedy and a couple others. The article is aimed at the majority.

  7. This is exactly what I say every day! Why don’t the republicans take this fight seriously?

  8. I feel like beating my head against the wall daily on this very issue. My husband always tells me the same thing – they are on the boat getting all their perks and don’t want to upset the boat. It’s all about being on the boat. I am sick to death of their sound bites talking tough with no action to back it up. Our strongest proponent is Governor DeSantis leading by example.

  9. The Democrat Party of Death and Degradation/MSM,
The Republican Party of Silence and Stupidity!

  10. The Republicans bring a limp wrist to a knife fight. They think gentle slaps will deter the Demonrat thugs with the Bowie knives.

  11. Dave Agusta, have you ever heard of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene? If you have show her a little LOVE!
