Because somebody has to say this stuff.

The People, More Than Our Elected Leaders, Are To Blame

I fear the end of the American Republic and this great experiment. Not because of who is in charge, but because of who wants these people in charge.

Each year, a handful of surfers are attacked by sharks. It’s sad, scary, and despite the astronomically low odds of it happening, is the reason why I don’t go into the ocean farther than I can touch bottom. Sharks get the water, I get the land, and I am good with that arrangement.

When a shark attack occurs, I never see anger directed at the shark. Sympathy for the victim and a retelling of the frightening encounter are shared, both without even an utterance of animus toward the perfected predators of the ocean. A quick web search for “shark attack” reveals headlines that certainly inspire visceral reactions among the readers, but anger is not one of the emotions elicited.

The rhetorical “why?” could be asked, but we all intuitively know the answer. Sharks hunt for food. Surfers in their wetsuits and on their boards resemble this food. We take a chance getting in the water. In nearly every case, a shark attack is an accident; the sharks mistake their bipedal prey for a scrumptious swimmer. We can’t get mad at a shark for behaving exactly like a shark ought to and does behave. To think otherwise would be insane.

I dedicated three meandering paragraphs to serve as a preamble to this fundamental understanding of representative democracy: Joe Biden, Gavin Newsom, Justin Trudeau, London Breed, Lori Lightfoot, Muriel Bowser, along with every other incompetent, hypocritical, elitist, and virtue-signaling fool, are the sharks in this analogy. Power-hungry, immoral politicians are going to act just as we imagine a power-hungry, immoral politician would. We feign surprise, but why?

We get mad with the system and those for whom we vote when they let us down. And we should be mad. These people deserve every ounce of our contempt, but they are not wholly what’s wrong with the system. It is equally, if not more so, the fault of the ignorant and selfish fools that vote for them – over and over again. Did we miss Biden’s mental collapse? Did we not see how AOC was a self-serving fraud? Pelosi nothing more than a legacy politician?

It’s all right there, out in the open. We can see the sharks prowling and go surfing anyways.

This isn’t to say Joe Biden is innocent in this disastrous administration or that London Breed should be free of critique in the wake of her latest Covid scandal and horrendous apology. (Side note: Her reply that she had to break the rules because the truly terrible Tony! Toni! Toné! regrouped stands on the podium of the worst responses to Democrat PR nightmares. Kamala “I haven’t been to Europe, either” Harris and Joe “that was four or five days ago” Biden complete the trio.)

But let’s not forget how each of these dangerous clowns assumed their positions in the first place.

Do politicians lie? Do we mistakenly believe they will kick out lobbyists and build walls? Yes and yes, but again, it’s not a secret that politicians campaign on empty promises. It’s not wrong to hope for the best – we wanted lobbyists evicted from D.C, we wanted a wall built, we fully believed our taxes would remain untouched and vaccines would be optional – but at the end of the day, is anyone shocked when a campaign promise goes bust, especially by a self-serving Marxist?

If the same shark swam by a surfer for ten straight days without harming him, would we suddenly be surprised it attacked on the eleventh day?

There is relatable contempt toward Justin Trudeau’s victory in Canada. He has decimated the Canadian economy and spirit through the worst Covid policies in North America. He is a bumbling idiot whose father’s name has propelled him to stations far beyond what he deserves. He wears blackface as much as RuPaul wears dresses.

Equally so, there is enough understandable fury for London Breed and her brazen violation of her own mandates, made worse by her juvenile explanation. In a sane and better world, forget leading a city, people like Breed would barely be qualified to mop the floors in city hall.

Joe Biden, well, he would be the last guy picked for a retirement home’s shuffleboard tournament. President of the United States? It’s laughable. And yet here we are, being represented by an absolute embarrassment of a man who was already an idiot to begin with, and we somehow want to ignore the fact that people voted for him? We all saw what Joe was and what he stood for; none of his tenure in the Oval Office should even remotely be a shocker.

Donald Trump lit a political fire under our haunches and Larry Elder’s campaign continued to expose how vile and illogical Critical Race Theory is, but at the end of the day, win or lose, they are just one person. Joe Biden is just one person. We need tens of millions of people to wake up and do the right thing.

I write these posts because I have to believe in and fight for the American experiment, but unfortunately I won’t be surprised when it fails. The more sharks we find in the ocean, the more idiots want to go surfing.

  1. Do not disagree with any other comment posted (thus far), but I take issue at the lack of examination of the core issue – conservatism. Would any challenge my view that Conservatism as a ‘world-view’ has failed ?

This may be an uncomfortable question for us to think on, because implied in most of these comments is the unstated “we are better than this” proposition. But are we ?

When mention is made of “traditional values” or “the American way of life”, the presumption of that writer seems to be we are family-loving, people-caring, embracers of principled freedom (where individual Rights necessitate individual Responsibility) – all of which are touted as “Conservative Values”.

Yet, we continuously and consistently FAIL TO FIGHT for those touted Values. Given an opportunity to take that FIGHT to the demented Left, many instead demeaned themselves by mocking not only the earnest (albieit unsubtle) man who tried to reverse the devolution of this country towards totalarianism, but his supporters as well, so the best he could manage was to stem the tide for a bit.

And yes, it appears we are going to go through the utter idiocy of totalarianism YET AGAIN here in the 21st Century (even after the failure it showed itself to be in spectacular and bloody fashion during the 20th Century on MULTIPLE occasions).

(Just a side note — I sometimes wonder what Trump and the Republicans might have accomplished if the Never-Trumpers had just kept their mouths shut and allowed the braver souls to “give it a go” ?)

The writer of this article is correct. It is not the Left we should blame. They act just as the mindless shark does – the ocean’s eating machine – and the Left will do what they must to destroy our culture simply because they ARE mindless and destruction is the only path they “see” to a “better world”.

We’ve known this for a good long while now – the LEFT eats it’s own, why shouldn’t they also seek to eat their enemy?

Yet, we did nothing as the Left hijacked — in turn or even concurrently — our Entertainment Industry, our Academia, our Unions, our Government Institutions, our Public Schools, our Military. And all the while, those of us believing in the core values of America as it’s true strength, sat by and DID NOTHING.

It is WE THE PEOPLE who are to blame for the situation we are now in. WE THE PEOPLE.
Perhaps, after all, WE are the shark.

  2. Part of the problem is that the game was rigged almost from the beginning. #1: Federalism. The excuse for Federalism was the supposed fact that we as a people united under the Articles of Confederation were only able to repel the Brits by the very skin of our collective teeth. We needed a Centralized Federal Government so that we could raise and equip a standing army to protect our interests. Nothing could be further from the truth. After ratifying the Constitution and moving away from our Philadelphia home and building the Washington DC monolith, we came much closer to loosing the Second War for Independence than the first encounter. If it wasn’t for our ally France, Vladimir Pulaski, Lafayette and others, we would have lost the war spectacularly. The Brits captured our Capitol and burned it to the ground after all. Federalism is the magnet for greedy and immoral men and women to turn our country into a cesspool of filth and depravity that infests every part of our culture and society.

#2: We as a nation have given GOD our collective boot out of our public school system and wonder why kids are murdering kids. And now we seek to hunt down our Christian brothers and sisters and our beloved cousin Israel and put them back in the Arena for our amusement. Unless we go back to the Articles of Confederation and live as a peaceful people, we are doomed to wage the bloodiest war in the history of war against ourselves yet again. And this time it will be infinitely worse than the first Civil War.

#3: We have the most expensive and worst public school system of all the First World countries. I went to a private Catholic school after first going to a public institution. The difference in education was like night and day. My first year was academic culture shock. They were so far ahead of their public school counterparts that it took me an entire year to catch up academically, even though my IQ was158. This is a failure to educate on a national scale and since I am now 73 years old I can tell you with great certainty that the gulf has only increased exponentially. An IQ of 100 (average today) is much lower than the average in my day as education has been eviscerated and replaced with leftist indoctrination and wokeness which is absolutely criminal. Unless we as a people can turn all this around, very soon, then we are lost.

  3. “The Right Thing” is exactly what The Founders did.
    They went Human Shark hunting.
Tyrants are Humans-Free Moral Agents who CHOOSE, when other options (unlike sharks) are available, to feed on their fellow humans.
Maybe you think “a human eater gotsta feed”. Cannibals are still eradicated.

Thus-always-to Tyrants. Look at the Flag and Seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
“Virtuous Fortitude” standing over slain (that obscenity ain’t getting up and walking away)
    Tyranny.

That’s what the Founders did The Made Revolution, They Made War, They Gave Battle, They slew Human Sharks, Burned out their Tory Enablers and drove them from OUR shores.

Don’t give me this obscenity about idiot surfers, it’s THEIR ocean too. If a predator can’t learn to keep his distance he’s shark fin soup.

The obscenity are those who are so irresponsible that they let sharks approach shore and eat children without hunting them down, eradicating them and driving the remnant into deep water.

The Founders knew how to hunt human sharks. They organized, militarized, trained, mobilized.

    That’s what it took/always takes/will take,
    “do or do not.”

  4. Sherry, “I understand even less is the lack of our willingness to fight for our country. America has lost its will to fight.”

It begins in our schools. I’d bet that the days where the kids are all gathered in the auditorium and sing patriotic songs are long gone, unfortunately. Today, it seems that our teachers as a whole teach our future adults to despise America and even themselves. So it’s not difficult to understand the lack of fight left in the dog. Meanwhile, our enemies clamp down on their future adults by banning any of the frivolous memes that are distracting our kids. They’re producing fighters and we’re producing pantywaists. Add in how television constantly pushes that women are tough and always in control and that men are bumbling idiots isn’t helping matters. Just about every show I seem to watch there may be a male lead but 99% of the time he reports to a female. I don’t have an issue with female bosses but it seems a deliberate attempt to change things. The left won’t be satisfied until every traditional value we hold dear is crushed. I believe it’s all part of the commie plan described by Skousen in the Naked Communist, but that’s me.

  5. “The people” are allowed to vote regardless of their qualifications/contributions to the country. Welfare rats, who have spit on a free public education in favor of being baby daddies/mamas, vote for prideless demagogues who base their entire political lives on the concept of bread and circuses.
    America today.

  6. What I understand even less is the lack of our willingness to fight for our country. America has lost its will to fight. We just allow the “idiots” we’ve elected to do the work for us, and complain endlessly on social media. We’ve become a nation of armchair warriors. Very, very sad.

Thank you for this article! I have shared it to my FB page….
