Could it be? Is this really the first time that our estimable Vice-President, the one and only Kamala Harris, has had this dreaded award bestowed upon her? It is indeed a first Knucklehead of the Week award for VP Harris, but something tells us it won’t be her last.
Winner: Vice-President Harris applauds clueless student with ‘your truth’
Vice-President Kamala Harris was at George Mason University this week interacting with a group of students, one of who is both Yemeni and Iranian and who stated, “Just a few days ago there were funds allocated to continue backing Israel which hurts my heart because it’s ethnic genocide and displacement of people, the same that happened in America, and I’m sure you’re aware of this.” VP Harris then responded, “Your truth cannot be suppressed and it must be heard.”
Considering that Harris is Vice-President of our country and not the head of the local Rotary Club, and also taking into account that Israel is both our greatest ally and only democracy in the most volatile region in the world, that discussion at GMU would have probably been a good time for Harris to ask, “Are you out of your mind? Can you cite any evidence to support your ridiculous claim?” Harris could have, of course, asked the question in a much more compassionate/Democratic manner, but it was really the only proper response. Instead, Harris chose once again to thoroughly mishandle another sensitive situation.
For those wondering, no, VP Harris was not cackling when she blurted out her idiotic reply to the student, and there was no indication that Harris had been drinking. She was measured and concise. Therefore, let’s examine her bizarre answer under the assumption it wasn’t some sort of gaffe.
There are certain words that require no type of qualifier or modifier, and in fact, should be free of such additions in all circumstances. Take for example the word ‘justice.’ There’s no such thing as racial justice, or economic justice, or reproductive justice, there’s only one type of justice: and that is ‘justice.’ The same is true for the word ‘truth.’ There is not a his truth, or her truth, or their truth, or your truth; there is only one truth, and that’s the truth.
We’ve seen enough of this maneuver in recent years to understand this: any time someone applies a modifier to the word ‘truth,’ the assertion which is being made is almost guaranteed to be false. We saw it with the buffoonish Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) during the Brett Kavanaugh SCOTUS confirmation hearings when he alluded to the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford as “her truth,” after Ford made assertions that even her closest friends thought were lies. Oprah Winfrey famously asked Megan Markle to share “your truth” as she rattled off one doozy after another. And now we have VP Harris applying “your truth” to blatantly false propaganda.
The statement by the student was a barefaced lie. Is she merely a gullible victim of leftwing indoctrination in academia? Perhaps. Did she knowingly lie in an attempt to further the untruth? Quite possibly. But no matter the motivation or cause, one thing is clear: not only has Israel not participated in any type of genocide, they are quite clearly one of the world’s leaders in establishing and promoting human rights. For VP Harris to not only let the student make her point unchallenged and then use the word “truth” in conjunction with any point the student had made makes Harris only one thing: a knucklehead.
Finally, we have to wonder; are Americans finally starting to see through this schtick? Are they recognizing Democrats’ embrace of undeniable fabrications with the reprehensible tactic of applying a qualified “truth” when voicing their support? For most on America’s left, no way. They swallow this nonsense hook, line, and sinker. But not on the right, and probably not in the center. Kamala Harris is highly unlikeable, as evidenced by her inability to poll any better than fifth place in her own state of California during her failed run for president. And when she pulls stunts like this one, it’s only going to hurt her with those critical undecided voters. Kamala Harris may very well be the best thing to happen to the Republican Party in a long time.
Honorable Mention #1: Biden – I think we can get back to normal when 97-98% of us are vaccinated
President Biden made the comment after a reporter asked how many more Americans need to get vaccinated. Anyone who still believes that COVID – or more specifically, our government’s response to COVID – is about anything more than government power need not look any further than this statement by Joe Biden. How about this Joe: most of us are already back to normal, and we’re not about to wait until you honor us with your approval to do so.
While it’s most likely that the president simply pulled the numbers 97% – 98% straight from his rectum, it’s worth considering that based on Biden’s struggles with mathematics this week and his claim that his $3.5 trillion spending plan “costs zero dollars,” it’s also conceivable that Good Ole Joe just got the math wrong. If that’s the case, we can take comfort in recognizing that at least Joe didn’t call for 101% of the population to be vaxxed.
Honorable Mention #2: Editor apologizes for calling women “bodies with vaginas”
It’s nice to see knuckleheadedness coming from outside the U.S. occasionally. The British medical journal The Lancet used this terminology, “bodies with vaginas,” in a headline on the front page of their most recent edition, causing the editor to issue the apology. In what was clearly an attempt to bow to the woke mob, we should be most concerned with the fact that the situation occurred within the context of a medical journal; wokeness is infecting every aspect of society. But the wording itself, “bodies with vaginas,” begs the question: why ‘bodies’ and why ‘vaginas?’
In an effort to avoid using a sane term like ‘women,’ we’ve seen the phrases “people with uteruses” and “birthing people” employed before, but this latest stupidity is especially peculiar. If they were looking to change things up, if they wanted a little variety, why didn’t they say, “humans with ovaries,” or “homo sapiens with fallopian tubes?” But they didn’t. They chose to use “bodies with vaginas.” We can only assume that the author in question has an affinity for women’s bodies, and for vaginas in particular. If that’s the case, they’re not alone. It’s just that the rest of us don’t make a habit of announcing that affinity on the front pages of medical journals.
