Religion, Spirituality, And Tolerance – Part III

Being tolerant is not possible if one’s religious views are grounded in a revelation that dismisses in the most heinous ways those outside that religious community. A centrally important part of tolerance is to be able to maintain a faithful skepticism about that which is revealed in one’s own religious tradition.

The Real Climate Crisis

For many years, there has been an entirely natural process operating that has been removing a critical nutrient from the environment.  If allowed to continue unabated, it could deplete this nutrient to the point where all life on earth would die.  All the land areas would look like the lifeless landscapes we see in pictures of Mars or the moon, and the oceans would be without life from their surfaces to their deepest depths.

Small Town America Needs To Be Rescued

In addition to the obvious expense to the taxpayers of Exeter who have to pay to defend the SAU and then foot the bill for any settlements, the Education Department is a stain on our proud town. These incidents indicate a systemic problem with the department. That problem is a lack of respect for students, their parents, and the goal of educating our children.

Righteousness + Force in America: The Trap Of Righteous Activism Coupled With State Power

The need to justify force with righteousness is not limited to wartime. Every new coercive law or regulation is justified not on the basis of “I’m strong enough to take your stuff and so I think I will,” but because “our cause is just.” While some who would take your freedom or your life are motivated by their desire for power, the most vicious monsters in human history were all motivated by righteousness.
