Chivalry isn’t dead. Or, at least, the part of chivalry that entailed standing up for women when villains and predators attempted to attack them isn’t dead.
That was seen recently when a man and Ohio defended a senior citizen from a villainous purse snatcher and can be seen again in a video going viral where a group of brave young men stand up to and detain a moped-bound mugger that attempted to either steal from or abduct a helpless woman.

As you can see, the woman is just walking on the sidewalk, minding her own business, when a thug on a moped zooms up next to her and skids to a halt. He then tries to grab her as she desperately struggles and eventually manages to retreat a few steps as he stumbles and the bike falls.
That’s when our heroes appear. Either having seen or heard (or perhaps both) the struggle, they emerge from the adjacent building and defend the woman, her property, and her honor.
Stopping the thuggish criminal from fleeing, they first push the man off his bike, stopping his retreat and fighting him.
The next part, however, where they fight him as he lies defenseless, probably can’t be cheered, as it’s not legal, at least not in the US: you have a right to self-defense or to defend others, but not to take violent retribution afterward. At the point where he went down and didn’t fight back, the men that came to the woman’s aid should have stopped beating him.
Regardless, up until that point, the video was great. When a woman is being attacked, particularly in times like these when the sex trafficking crisis is such a problem, defending her and fighting off an attacker is the right thing to do, the heroic thing to do.
What’s even better, if sad that it’s necessary, is when a woman can fight off her attackers all on her own. Such was the case in Brazil, where a female UFC star taught a man trying to mug her a lesson he won’t soon forget. As the Sun reported:
UFC STAR Polyana Viana left a man with horrific facial injuries after he tried to rob her with a CARDBOARD gun.
And the cowering thief even begged her to call the cops in fear of another beating after targeting the wrong person.
The Brazilian was waiting for her Uber in Rio de Janeiro when the misguided criminal demanded she hand over her phone.
After claiming he had a gun, Viana punched and kicked the would-be-robber before locking him in a rear-naked choke.
Viana, 26, kept the man in a submission while she waited for police to arrive.
More details about the video are hard to find, other than that he had grabbed her purse and was trying to ride off with it. This article will be updated to reflect them if they become available.
