YIKES: Australian Bank To Stop Lending For Gas-Powered Cars, Loans Only Available For Electric Vehicles

As shocking as it is unsurprising, an Australian bank chain is providing a terrifying glimpse into the dystopian future that awaits everyone who still believes man-made climate change is worse than chains.

In an August press release, Bank Australia made the stunning announcement that it would cease lending to prospective new car owners in 2025 if the vehicle of their choosing relied on tried-and-true combustion. Instead, new car owners would only be able to procure a new car loan if there are expensive lithium batteries propelling the wheels.

Interestingly, for all of the vacuous virtue signaling, the bank is keeping itself in the used car market. Indeed, for all of its grandstanding on climate, those exorbitant used car rates were just too good to pass on; climate pandering is one thing, but so too is gouging lenders for second-hand vehicles.

Bank Australia made their financial pivot public in August, releasing a pie-in-the-sky vision for the future despite a very different present in the car market. Chief Impact Officer Sasha Courville elaborated on the new financial policy in a subsequently released statement.

“We think that the responsible thing for us to do next, is to ensure that our vehicle lending doesn’t lock our customers into higher carbon emissions and increasingly expensive running costs in the years ahead.”

“Ultimately, our announcement today is the beginning of a conversation with our customers and a signal to the wider market that if you’re considering buying a new car, you should think seriously about an electric vehicle – both for its impact on the climate and for its lifetime cost savings.”

Two paragraphs of virtue signaling and very little content – par for the course for leftists. Unfortunately, Courville followed up those statements with the radical impact long feared by those of us with enough brainpower to see how climate alarmism will eventually be used against us and our freedoms. Courville added:

“While we will cease car loans for new fossil fuel cars from 2025, we are deeply aware that we need to support people not yet able to afford an electric vehicle while the market grows.”

Amidst their reporting on the frightening prospect of loans evaporating for the gas-powered car market, Fox News noted that electric vehicles currently only make up around 2% of all new car sales in Australia. Just over 20,000 EVs were purchased in the former penal colony, which increasingly feels like it’s returning to its roots.

Clearly, this isn’t a market decision. This is purely an ideological one. Not only is the bank removing itself from a seemingly massive market, but it’s also putting itself on course for a 2035 net-zero emissions goal. How and why does a bank need net-zero goals? Great question.

Not at all coincidentally, California’s greasy, grimy governor Gavin Newsom also announced a 2035 law that bans future sales of gas-powered vehicles. In other words, Newsom announces the state intrusion, Australia introduces the mechanism for shutting people out, and suddenly the globalists are looking sincere on their efforts to ruin humanity.

And if anyone needed more proof of how absurd the efforts are to get everyone off gas and into electricity in just over a decade, in the same week that Newsom announced his sweeping legislation, he also asked people to not charge their electric vehicles out of concern for flooding the grid.

You can’t make this stuff up.
