In this installment of their weekly Sunday Six conversation, PF Whalen and Parker Beauregard of The Blue State Conservative discuss six highly damaging laws and policies that California’s Governor Gavin Newsom has signed into existence since his victory in last month’s recall vote.
Gavin Newsom has been an across-the-board disaster for California. Disgusted residents in the state are attempting to remove him from office through a recall election. Newsom has made such a mess of California’s public education system that a former Democratic majority leader in the state senate has just released a blockbuster endorsement of his No. 1 opponent, conservative talk radio host, Larry Elder.
Put simply, recalls make it too easy to avoid the consequences of bad decisions. Voters need to live through at least one term of the leadership that they select. And the rest of us are entitled to at least one full term to ridicule them for their choices. Seriously, San Francisco elected someone raised by terrorists to be their top law enforcement officer?
Men being required to use the men’s room, and the banning of a six-foot-six-inch student with an Adam’s apple and a five o’clock shadow from competing against your daughter in volleyball is more than California can take. “We’re in the midst of an unprecedented wave of bigotry and discrimination in this country,” said Rob Bonta, California’s Attorney General. We are indeed seeing unprecedented actions taking place, Mr. Bonta. At least you’ve got that right.
Even though crime has skyrocketed, the prison population is down. So our neighborhoods must be safer, right? If things don’t feel safer in California, consider this: making it no longer a felony to steal stuff, doesn’t mean people aren’t still stealing stuff. They’re just not being arrested for it.
