When are these organizations going to stop pretending that the young and healthy have ever been in any serious danger from the Wuhan Virus? Much of the rest of the U.S.—at least those of us on “team reality”—have long understood what this virus really is, and who’s at risk from it. Cancelling games, pulling players, more widespread testing, and the like is nothing more than further pandemic theatre.
Things have changed greatly since Covid first became a thing in late 2019 and early 2020. While SARS had been around for many years prior, this new form took a lot of people by surprise. It provided an excuse to try a lot of new things both medical and political. On the medical side, it provided an opportunity to try an entirely new approach to rapid development of a vaccine, one that “taught” the body to produce an antigen to which the body’s own immune system would react.
Meanwhile, the emerging reality of Omicron is that it has a much lower transmission coefficient than its predecessor, the Delta variant, and produces only mild symptoms of illness. Someone should tell Acting President Fauci that Halloween is over and he can stop trying to scare everybody. Anyway, two federal judges rendered decisions striking down Acting President Fauci’s vaccine mandates.
We rose to the occasion with the “fifteen days to slow the spread.” We never overwhelmed the hospitals. We stayed in our houses and worked from home, and some of us even obeyed those idiotic one-way traffic shopping lanes at supermarkets in order to socially distance and protect the elderly from getting sick. But that’s done now, it’s over.
