What is particularly eyebrow-raising about this proclamation is the timing. It’s only July of 2022. Biden’s challenger has announced his candidacy and we’re still months away from November’s midterm elections, and Biden has only been in office for eighteen months. We should also recognize that we haven’t had a single candidate officially announce their candidacy on the other side of the aisle, as not one Republican has announced their intentions to run in 2024 yet.
That complete authority that Hillary so intensely desires was so close in 2016. She was right there. Now Hillary’s got a floundering president in Biden and an incredibly weak stable of options for her party to choose from. She may well determine that now, finally, is her time. And if that is indeed the course of action Hillary Clinton and the Democrats decide to take, conservatives and Republicans should be doing cartwheels.
It must be noted that adjusted for the age of the population, and the number of young people dead of suicide and drug overdose, California’s handling of Covid is disastrous compared to Florida. And that does not even include the economic devastation, where California is lagging far behind the rest of the country.
