A big, burly man, sat waiting in a car for a potential victim to walk close by enough to assault. A young woman, just going about her business, was walking nearby, so he tore our of the car like a flash and rushed toward her, ready to do God knows what to her. Perhaps his goal was robbery, perhaps rape, perhaps abduction, or perhaps murder. Fortunately, neither we nor she have to find out.
Nowadays, I can just see some thirteen-year-old repeating this same casual act, with some blue&pink-haired, nose-ring wearing LGBTQ Democrat screaming bloody murder and “Oh No … [Oh God?] … Somebody call the police … he’s going to kill someone” even though they’d just called their representative the day before to demand the police be defunded.
What does correlate with the ’90s mass shooting phenomenon, however, is the greatly increased medicating of children (especially boys) with psychotropic drugs, the intensification of mindless entertainment violence, the Internet’s rise, continued family breakdown, and burgeoning godlessness with its associated moral relativism. Any discussion about reducing crime that doesn’t include these factors simply isn’t serious.
But using the left’s language, isn’t that self-administered death with dignity? Messy, sad, unpleasant, and probably due to years of liberal policy pressure, but even if it violates the existing criminal code, it is not a violent crime against anyone else. But that gun wasn’t used to deny someone else’s life the way, say, a makeshift noose manages to kill someone in their holding cell after the camera suddenly stops working.
