As Donald Trump would tell you, construction projects are easy to build. The hard part is getting the permission and funding to even begin. That’s why building the border wall has been such a problem for the past 20 years. It’s not that expensive, and it’s easy to build. But one party seems to think it’s not in its interest to secure the border, so it’s fought it every step of the way.
Just 30 years ago, Yugoslavia split apart because of hatred and distrust between competing factions. Its Balkanization resulted in 140,000 deaths and 2.4 million refugees. Is this the future we want for America?
Shouldn’t any field called “political science,” have laws rather like those of physics that accurately model behavior? I’d like to propose an alternative set of political laws.
We need safe highways and efficient air traffic control, which means we need Buttigieg to do well. Pete Buttigieg’s sexual orientation has nothing to do with his job performance, but that is, after all, the entire point. Neither Pete Buttigieg nor anyone else should be turned down for a job just because they are gay, but they shouldn’t be hired strictly for that reason either.
Franklin and our other Founding Fathers understood the importance of being unified, and they asserted that such unification must be centered on common values shared by all Americans. Almost two-and-a-half centuries later, however, our friends on the Left appear hell bent on division, not unity. Separating us by inherent traits is the objective, and identity politics is the tactic. Common values be damned.
