Violent crime in NYC is up 40% over last year, and 2021 wasn’t exactly a banner year either. Shootings have doubled compared to 2019. As a result, half of New Yorkers now say violent crime is the city’s number one issue. The crime problem has almost certainly inhibited the city’s post-pandemic recovery, and residents have apparently had enough. Rest assured, it is for this reason that Adams is now diverging from the DeBlasio/Cuomo approach to crime prevention.

In a perfect world for the left and their media, the shooter would have ultimately turned out to be a middle-aged, heterosexual, Christian white man, sporting a MAGA hat and NRA t-shirt. He would have been apprehended while driving a gas-guzzling Ford pick-up with a Pro-Life bumper sticker, and Ben Shapiro’s podcast would have been blaring from the vehicle’s stereo. We can practically see media members writhing in ecstasy at such a prospect.

The suspect, a man named Christian Jeffers who reportedly identifies as a woman, had been arrested a total of 47 times prior to this week’s incident. He has now been charged with first-degree assault as a hate crime, resulting from the racial slurs he allegedly shouted during the incident and later during his arrest.
